Memorial Day

Although I couldn't convince anybody to sing patriotic tunes with me, I have to say  I was pretty satisfied with the "American-ness" of our Memorial Day.

Martha Stewart's Red, White, and Blueberry Trifle

Just a little family portrait

My favorite boys on the White River

So proud to be an American. And thankful for the men and women who have fought, are fighting, and will continue to fight for our freedom. We have no idea. I hope and pray that one day we can adequately express how much we appreciate their service.

Also very proud to stand up when they play the army and navy songs in the Armed Forces Medley. Both of my Grandfathers were WWII veterans and I hope they know how much the sacrifices they made mean to me.

Malcolm Anderson Jones. US Navy.
He was dishonest (probably the only time in his life he was dishonest about anything) about his age and enlisted after his older brother went down with a ship.

Fred Leander White. US Army (Air Corps)
Served under George Patton's 3rd Army.
While watching 'Saving Private Ryan', He made sure we knew that he never used language like they did in the movie :)

and it sho is a happy day.
